Arthur J. Ochoa is the Senior Vice President for Community Relations and Development and Chief Development Officer of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. Since he was appointed to his current position in 2004, Art has led all facets of the Medical Center's fundraising activities. He oversaw the planning and execution of a recently completed historic five-year endowment campaign, which concluded in 2010 in excess of its ambitious $350,000,000 goal.
Art is also responsible for the Medical Center’s community benefit efforts, including its many education, health screening programs and initiatives for children, the elderly and the working poor. He oversees the Medical Center's groundbreaking art program and its significant collection, as well as the Chaplaincy, Patient Relations, Volunteer Services and Operator Services departments.
Art joined the Medical Center in 2001 as Director of Planned Giving. Previously, he practiced corporate and tax law at two of Los Angeles' most respected law firms—O'Melveny & Myers LLP and Irell & Manella LLP.
Art is vice president of the Board of Trustees of the Center for Early Education, an independent elementary school in West Hollywood. He is a trustee of Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science and a director of Planned Parenthood Los Angeles. He is an honorary trustee of the Mexican American Bar Foundation in Los Angeles and a past director of Youth Service America in Washington, DC.
Art speaks frequently on a variety of topics regarding law, nonprofit governance, management and fund development. He is a former adjunct professor in the M.B.A. program at the University of Judaism in Bel Air, California (now American Jewish University). He is also a past chairman of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Tax Exempt Organization Committee.
Art is a graduate of the University of Southern California (cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa) and the Yale Law School.
