Honoring the memory of Leon Morgenstern, MD

Dr. Leon MorgensternBeloved by all who entered his sphere, Leon Morgenstern, MD, was treasured as a brilliant surgeon and generous mentor. He presided over Cedars-Sinai’s Department of Surgery during a time of sweeping change and put the Medical Center on the map, internationally, as a surgical leader. He personally conducted seminal research on splenic surgery that revolutionized his field.

An accomplished medical historian and humanist, Dr. Morgenstern established Cedars-Sinai’s Center for Healthcare Ethics. He guided colleagues and friends with an abundance of compassion and an unfailing moral compass. The yearly Morgenstern Lecture will bring a nationally recognized scholar in the history and ethics of medicine to Cedars-Sinai. Through this Lectureship, Dr. Morgenstern’s vision and impeccable standards will be etched into the annals of medicine and the culture of Cedars-Sinai for decades to come.

Thank you for honoring the memory and legacy of Leon Morgenstern, MD, with your contribution.
